It’s not surprising that with so many harbours around the South Hams coast, there are a lot of regattas. Some are grand, others smaller; some are focussed on serious sailing, others are more eclectic including gig racing, raft building etc; all are fun for both the competitors and the spectators. There is usually a show of local food, maybe a funfair, perhaps an air display, and perhaps tours of a navy warship (Dartmouth Regatta has all of those!)

Dartmouth Royal Regatta is arguably “the big one” locally and ends the regatta season, but here are several other local events:
– Brixham Heritage Sailing Regatta – Friday May 23-24th
– Kingswear Regatta – June 29-30th
– Teignmouth Regatta – dates TBA, but usually last week July
– Plymouth Regatta – dates TBA, but usually last week July
– Salcombe Yacht Club Regatta – 3-8th August
– Dittisham Regatta – Saturday, 16th August
– Salcombe Town Regatta 11-16th August
– Torbay Royal Regatta – 23-27th August
– Dartmouth Royal Regatta – August 28-30th
